Hi, I'm Tanya
Hi! I’m Tanya. I was born and raised in Upstate New York, where I currently live with my husband and fur baby, Ranger. I’m a lover of all things outdoors – find me on the mountaintop or walking along the ocean shore. Other things that make my soul happy include hiking, hot yoga, brunch, cold brew, music, and spending quality time with my friends and family. My husband and I are always exploring new cities, restaurants, and live music as well.
I’ve always had a passion for health, nutrition, and fitness – but more importantly, a desire to help others. The Bachelor of Science in Psychology I received has helped me understand the why behind our behaviors. The counseling tools I’ve learned from obtaining this degree allow me to address any barriers clients may have and provoke behavior change. The Master of Science in Applied Nutrition along with my work experience as a dietitian have provided me with the necessary knowledge and skills needed to educate and counsel clients with an array of health conditions (e.g. heart and renal disease, GI disorders, diabetes, and disordered eating).
I believe that food is medicine, meaning food has the power to prevent, reduce, and even reverse the symptoms of chronic disease. I will assist you in choosing foods that not only better your health but also taste really good too.
I practice from a non-diet, Intuitive Eating approach. This means I will listen to your whole story and provide nutrition education and counseling based on your specific needs and wants. I am here to support you in healing your relationship with food and body. Food is not the enemy. Rather, it’s meant to nourish your body and provide pleasure. I want you to reach a place of food freedom, where food no longer dictates your life. Together, we’ll defeat diet culture and get you back in the driver’s seat!
In addition to my work as a Registered Dietitian, I am also a Certified Personal Trainer. I’m very passionate about helping others engage in joyful movement. Moving your body should be fun and exciting, not a dreadful requirement. I want you to engage in movement that feels good for you, however often or in whichever way you choose. Let’s use movement as a way to better your health and mood!
